s 2017 draws to a close, Automox is excited to announce record-setting revenue and client acquisition growth in 2017. The cloud-native patch management platform is used by IT Managers faced with the complex challenge of securing large client networks that operate on multiple platforms, are geographically dispersed, and depend on timely software updates.

“We are relentlessly tuned-in to the demands of a market for whom security is critical, yet breaches are rampant”, stated Jay Prassl, founder and CEO of Automox. “Poor patch management is security's dirty little secret and is responsible for a record year of data and security breaches. We serve companies frustrated with outdated patching solutions that can’t support multi-platform environments that include Windows, Mac and Linux, and don’t allow them to automate simple workflow processes like software deployment”, added Prassl. “IT Managers are also moving toward cloud-based platforms that give them more control and visibility into their entire network.”

The company expanded its base of mid-market and enterprise customers by 900%, with the majority of growth coming from software, healthcare, finance, and education industries. Revenue from these industries grew tenfold, driven by heightened demand for security and protection among large, remote workforces vulnerable to data breaches. Lapses in security and patch management created massive security issues in 2017 for companies like Verizon, Xbox, Gmail, DocuSign, Equifax, Uber and dozens of other enterprises. A flaw in Apple’s MacOS High Sierra release created massive root access vulnerabilities among millions of Mac users before Apple quickly released a patch.

One customer, Inside Track, credits Automox with helping them protect their network of 250 remote workers from the Apple MacOS bug. “Automox gave us the ability to see which endpoints were vulnerable and allowed us to automatically deploy the patch to those workstations”, stated Chris Borte, Director of IT and DevOps for Inside Track. “And because Automox supports Windows, Mac and Linux, I didn’t need a separate solution for Mac. I manage and protect all my operating systems from one dashboard”, added Borte.

The Colorado company also grew the number of employees by adding key roles in Marketing, Engineering, Sales, and Data Science and recently moved the headquarters to a larger space in downtown Boulder.

Company growth was also fueled by major product releases that included enhanced vulnerability status reporting, the ability to patch 3rd party software, advanced configuration management and end user notifications. Automox is meeting the IT industry’s demand for an easy-to-use, automated, and predictable patching experience.
